What is Wellbeing and why is it important?
Wellbeing [noun] – the state of being comfortable, healthy or happy.
This is the definition of wellbeing provided by the Oxford English Dictionary, but what does that actually mean? The answer is not black and white nor is it in between because no one person is the same in how they feel, behave or think. What one person thinks of as their perfect state of wellbeing may be completely different from another person.
Your own wellbeing is important for you to try to understand. It is holistic meaning we should aim to look after all the key aspects of our lives if we wish to increase our wellbeing. This can involve learning how to find a balance with our Physical, Physiological, Psychological, Spiritual, Intellectual, Economical and Social self which can support an overall sense of wellness.
Having a strong and well-adapted sense of wellbeing can help us overcome difficulties and help us achieve our goals in life. It is thought that a greater sense of wellbeing relates to increased physical benefits and generally better health outcomes.
In my 20+ years working as a nurse and 10+ years working as a Wellbeing Advisor I have seen and experienced the difficulties people can face when suffering from conditions such as Fibromyalgia, Pain syndromes, Diabetes, heart conditions, circulatory conditions, complex surgeries and so much more than I can mention here!! I have had the pleasure of working with Autistic individuals and those struggling with Anxiety and Depression. Everyone I have cared for has had their own individual struggle, myself included!
Often by changing the way we think and feel about ourselves and our wants, needs and goals we can move forward successfully in making the right changes in our lifestyle to allow us to live a healthier and more fulfilled life.
Wellbeing and Lifestyle Management was pretty much created on the basis that people often needed to find their balance first before weight loss could happen or before treatments could really work for them!
I offer a confidential space for you to let go of what is going on with you! If you are struggling to find the balance you need to make the changes you want for your own wellbeing then contact me HERE and I’d be happy to discuss how I could help.
